Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with the Wyze cameras freezing up. I’ve had this issue for a few weeks now, and it’s been quite frustrating. Let me walk you through what I’ve tried and how I managed to resolve it.
First off, the freezing would happen every 20 seconds or so, and the camera would disconnect and reconnect repeatedly. I noticed that this happened across all three of my outdoor cameras. I started by checking the firmware updates, and sure enough, they were all up to date. I even updated the base station multiple times, but the problem persisted.
I decided to test the cameras in different conditions. I moved the base station closer to the cameras to ensure strong signal strength. I also connected an Ethernet cable directly to the base station to rule out any network issues. Unfortunately, the freezing problem remained unchanged.
Next, I looked into the camera settings. I turned off motion detection and notifications to see if that made a difference. I also formatted the SD cards on the cameras, thinking that might help. Despite all these efforts, the issue continued.
After some research, I found that this might be a firmware-related problem. I reached out to Wyze support, and they confirmed that it’s a known issue they’re working on. In the meantime, I’ve taken a few steps to mitigate the problem. I’ve limited the number of cameras connected to the base station and ensured that they’re fully charged at all times.
While I’m still waiting for an official fix from Wyze, these steps have helped reduce the frequency of the freezing episodes. I hope this experience can help someone else facing the same issue.
If anyone has additional tips or solutions, I’d love to hear them! Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other troubleshoot these smart home devices.
