I recently encountered a frustrating issue while trying to exclude a Z-Wave device from my OpenHAB setup. Despite following the standard exclusion process, a different device ended up being excluded instead. This has happened a few times now, and it’s incredibly frustrating, especially when the unintended device is in a hard-to-reach location.
I understand that debugging this might be complex, but I’m hoping someone else has encountered this issue and found a workaround. The logs don’t provide any clear indication of what’s going wrong—just the wrong device being excluded without any error messages.
Has anyone else experienced this problem? Any suggestions on how to confirm the correct device during exclusion or prevent this from happening would be greatly appreciated. I’d love to avoid the hassle of re-including devices that were unintentionally excluded.
This issue is particularly concerning since it’s happening on both OH 3.2 and 3.3 milestone builds. I’ll make sure to enable debug logging next time I attempt exclusion to gather more detailed information.
