Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with Z-Wave device initialization and the Refresh command not working as expected. I recently migrated my Home Assistant setup from a single-board computer to a more powerful containerized environment, and while the transition went smoothly for most components, my Z-Wave devices were causing some headaches.
I noticed that after the migration, the Refresh command for my Fibaro outlet switch wasn’t updating the state as it did before. The logs indicated that the device wasn’t polling because initialization wasn’t complete, which was puzzling since it’s a mains-powered device. I tried healing the network and power cycling the device, but nothing changed.
After some research, I discovered that the initialization process might be incomplete due to the device not being properly recognized in the new environment. I ended up removing and re-adding the device, which finally resolved the issue. It was a bit frustrating, but it taught me the importance of thorough device reconfiguration when changing setups.
If anyone else is experiencing similar issues, I’d recommend checking the Z-Wave logs for initialization status and ensuring all devices are properly re-paired after any major setup changes. Happy troubleshooting! ![]()
