I’ve had my U100 door lock for a few years now, and other than the occasional issue where it will not lock and I have to remove a battery for it to reset, I’ve been pretty happy with it.
The only thing that has bothered me is how slow it is using Siri to unlock the door. Siri will often complain and say something like ‘Your device is taking a while to respond’.
I’ve reset it multiple times but the issue remains.
Has anyone else had this issue and managed to resolve it?
It’s still slow but better from the app.
If I use the app, it’s slow the first time. If I then immediately lock/unlock it again, it’s fast.
Something tells me it has to do with establishing the Bluetooth connection.
Just to clarify, this post used to state I had the U200 but I actually have the the U100.
Yeah for me it’s not quite worth replacing the unit over this.
And if I did replace it, I’m waiting for a lock that supports that new iOS feature where it automatically unlocks when you arrive home (I forget what they call it).
Just out of curiosity, what are you using as an Apple hub? the reason I ask is that I had a few executions that were running slowly when using Siri. I notices a marked improvement by changing 2 things.
The first is that I bought the current Apple TV 128GB (with the ethernet port)
The second is that I set this as the preferred Hub in the Apple Home Settings.
To do this, go to Apple Home - 3 dots at the top right - Home Settings - Home Hubs & Bridges - turn OFF auto selection - Select the best hub.
@UKAndyC@timmay2t - Thanks, I’ll keep this in mind, though I’m not really looking to purchase an Apple TV anytime soon.
It would be a shame even if I did get one, as the only place in my house I could easily connect it through ethernet would be in a room we rarely use to watch tv. Yes, it would still function as the hub, but all the other features it offers would be largely ignored.
If you are looking to upgrade your lights at some point, I would highly recommend the T1M if you have the budget, or the T2 bulbs if you want a more budget friendly option. I have both and they work great.
Agreed. I like the P1 & P2. the FP300 is honestly the best presence sensor that I’ve tested (including the FP2) even though it has no zone control. I definitely went down a rabbit hole with my smart home after starting it about 5 years ago. I have
11 T2 bulbs
2 T1M ceiling lights
2 T1 light strips
M3
G3 (4)
G2H Pro (2)
E1 (1)
G5 (2)
G4 doorbell (2)
E1 roller shade drivers (4)
sensors for everything including door/window, water leak, vibration, motion, presence etc
And a lot more.
Once you get going its hard to stop
Oh yeah, I also spent about £1000 for devices to turn my parents house into a smart home too!
Out of curiosity, do you have an M3 hub? If not, I will definitely spend the extra and get one. It opens so many doors. Also, it opens a lot of extra settings in the devices you already have and it is basically a workhorse. You can throw things at it all day and it doesn’t seem to slow down.
