U200 Door Lock automatically disables Ring security system

Did you know you can get around the limitation of Alexa refusing to unlock things that need a code to be said?

I actually prefer to not say these codes out loudly, so I did some trying.

And it happens to be, that you can use Alexas “say anything like you are speaking to alexa”-initiator and add the code in that. You have to write the numbers in word-form, instead of digits, and voilà, once you opened your door-lock via finger-print or code, a routine is able to disable your ring security system.

Tested with an U200 connected to an echo, no hub yet, and a ring security system.

Use that with caution, it surely weakens security.

@MagicDoubleM Thank you for sharing this interesting workaround with the U200 Door Lock and Alexa! It’s always exciting to see creative solutions in action. Your method of using Alexa’s “say anything” feature to input the code in word-form is clever and highlights the flexibility of smart home setups. However, as you rightly mentioned, it’s crucial to be cautious as this approach might compromise security. Always ensure that your routines and codes are managed safely to protect your home. We appreciate your contribution and encourage you to keep experimenting and sharing your findings with the community!
