I just installed my second U300 lever lock. I love the first one and decided to change out an aging Yale lock for another U300. After completing the installation, I went through the firmware update and once that finished the door became impossible to open — from either side. It’s as if the firmware upgrade disconnected the internals from the levers. It was working as anticipated before the software update. Any suggestions?
@nycjeff34 It sounds like you’re experiencing an issue with your U300 lever lock after the firmware update. Let’s try a few troubleshooting steps to resolve this:
-
Firmware Update: Make sure that the firmware version is the latest. Sometimes, a complete update isn’t applied correctly, so it’s worth checking again.
-
Restart the Lock: Try restarting the door lock. This can sometimes resolve issues that occur post-update.
-
Physical Connections: Check if the connection lines on both panels are connected well. An issue during installation or a loose connection might cause the internal mechanism to not function properly.
-
Power Check: Ensure that alkaline batteries are being used, as specified, and that they are properly installed.
-
Reinstallation: If the above steps don’t work, it might be a case of incorrect installation. Reinstalling the lock could resolve the issue.
-
External Power: Try connecting a power bank to see if the lock responds differently, which could hint at a power issue.
