Hi everyone
I just installed a U400 and am having trouble adding it to Google Home so I can use it in existing automations. This is my first Aqara device, but not my first smart lock.
Current setup:
• U400 paired to an M100 hub
• Apple Home Key works correctly on my iPhone
• Lock functions normally in the Aqara app
I have tried the following without success:
1. Linking my Aqara account to Google Home
The lock shows up only as a “security system” device and does not allow lock or unlock control.
2. Adding the U400 directly in Google Home as a Matter device using the QR code
Google Home detects the device but fails during the setup process.
3. Adding the M100 hub to Google Home via Matter
This worked without issue. After that, I removed the Aqara account integration and tried again to add the U400 via Matter, but it still fails.
At this point, the hub is visible in Google Home, Apple Home works perfectly, but the U400 itself will not successfully add to Google Home in any usable way.
I assume I am missing a required step or configuration, but I cannot find it documented anywhere.
Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Hi there,
Please check the following items to see if they help resolve the issue:
Thread-enabled Matter controller
Could you please confirm which Thread-enabled Matter controller is connected in your Google Home app? Google Home currently supports the following devices: Nest Hub (2nd Gen), Nest Hub Max, and Nest WiFi Pro .
Pairing mode
Before binding the lock to any ecosystem, please make sure you press the Set button once on the inner panel. This will put the lock into pairing mode.
Matter QR code usage
Please note that the Matter pairing QR code on the lock is single-use only . Once the lock has been connected to a Thread-enabled Matter controller (for example, an M100 Hub) in the Aqara Home app, or added to the first ecosystem (such as Apple Home), the code will expire.
If you would like to add the lock to another ecosystem, please generate a new Matter code from the ecosystem where the lock is already bound and use that code for pairing.
Distance between devices
In some cases, pairing issues can be related to the distance between the lock and the Thread border router. We recommend keeping the lock within 5 meters of a Thread-enabled Matter controller. If there are obstacles (such as walls) between them, please reduce the distance to within 3 meters .
Network
Make sure your phone and Thread Border Router are under the same Wi-Fi network.
Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions—we look forward to your reply.

Thank you for the quick response!
I have the U400 connected through the M100 hub. My google home system sees the “lock” but fails to add it to my google home.
I am generating a new Matter code inside of the aqara app when trying to add it. I have copied and pasted this code into google home in order to add it. It sees it, but fails to completely add it.
All devices along with my phone are within about 8’ of each other with clear line of sight.
Finally all devices are on the same network.
Would it be possible to provide step by step instructions on how to add the U400 connected to the M100 hub to google home?
Thanks again!
I am stuck in a very similar position. I don’t have an iPhone, but other than that similar.
U400 connected through M100 hub.
M100 hub was able to connect via matter to home assistant.
Was also able to link M100 hub to Google Home - however it constantly shows as offline.
Linked Google Home to Aqara home and only see “Simple security system”. Can’t do anything there.
I am not able to get the actual lock added to Home Assistant or Google Home.
I go into the Aqara app, go into the lock, generate a matter code, and then go into either Home Assistant or Google Home and attempt to add, paste the code in, and then it times out. Every single time.
Quite frustrated and would greatly appreciate some help with this!

Totally understand! As an early adopter, It is normal to have some kinks to work out. I appreciate that you guys are working on it.
Would it be too much to ask that you respond back to this post when a fix is completed?
Thanks!
Update: I was able to add the lock to Google home this morning.
I am still having timeouts when adding it to Home Assistant.
Using the matter code from the Aqara app (the one that changes every 10 mins) as well as by going into Google home and trying to link through that (Linked Matter apps & services).
So some progress is being made.
I’m not sure if Aqara did anything or why things changed over night.
