@nigel It sounds like you’re experiencing a frustrating issue with connecting your H2Hub to the Aqara App. Let’s try to troubleshoot this together:
Wi-Fi and Network Settings: Since you mentioned you’re on the same 2.4GHz Wi-Fi network, ensure that your router settings do not have AP Isolation enabled. This setting can prevent devices from communicating with each other on the same network. Also, make sure that the Wi-Fi name and password do not contain any special characters, as these can sometimes cause connection issues.
Device Visibility: Even though the unit shows as connected in your router and HomeKit, it’s essential to ensure that the Aqara device is indeed in pairing mode when you’re trying to add it to the Aqara App. Check the device manual for specific instructions on how to enable pairing mode.
Firmware and App Updates: Ensure that both the Aqara Home app and your H2Hub firmware are updated to the latest versions. This can resolve compatibility issues that might be preventing the connection.
Reset and Re-pair: You could try resetting the H2Hub by following the reset instructions in the device manual. After resetting, attempt to add it to the Aqara App again.
Network Proximity: Make sure the hub is within a reasonable distance from your router to avoid weak signal issues.
If these steps don’t resolve the issue, it might be worth reaching out to Aqara Support for further assistance. Don’t hesitate to share any updates or breakthroughs here; your experience could be invaluable to others facing similar challenges!
This is just a bot reply and not a human being with knowledge.
I have the same problem with the H2. I have been able to connect one of my 2 devices once, update the firmware and then something went haywire and never worked again. I tried my second H2 later, it worked once when I accidentally created a new home, stopped working and I had to delete everything and it never connected again. Tried both the M3 and M100 hubs.
I will try again soon, this time using a dedicated IoT network. I am also using HomeKit and that creates additional problems: I connect to HomeKit (HomePod mini as hub) and it can connect to the H2, abut that loses connection to all matter devices every couple of days and that can only be fixed by switching both aqara hubs off, and then restarting the HomePod mini, sometimes multiple times.
So my final attempt is put Aqara on the IoT network and Apple on the normal network and see what happens when I isolate them from the wifi side (but the IoT network still talks to the normal network via the router). And I will start with the HomePod mini switched off.
At the same time, the zigbee device connected tio the M3 hub is solid on both Aqara and HomeKit.
BTW does anyone know how to do a factory reset on the H2? 10x pressing the switch as per manual does not work.
I finally got it to work and the solution was ugly:
The problem was that the Thread functionality in my Homepod Mini disabled the thread functionality in the M3 Hub.
So what I did is the following:
take the HomePod mini offline
Wait about 10 minutes to get all thread communications to time-out and recognise that they are broke,
Do a reset of my M3 hub, resetting all communication but not a factory reset
Go In Keychain and delete all entries associated associated with “home” and “thread”
connect the m3 hub with HomeKit - The HomePod mini is still offline
Link the M3 hub to HomeKit
Link my first H2 switch to HomeKit
Link this H2 switch to Aqara using the pair matter device in HomeKit and then copy code and add to Aqara. Do not put the H2 switch in connection mode.
I added a M100 device in a room to aqarea but never added it t HomeKit
Linked to second aqara to HomeKit (Aqara shows it is linked to the M3 hub)
added the second H2 device to HomeKit using pairing option in Home app
The main lesson learned is that if you have a HomePod mini, it is incompatible with Aqara. With HomePod mini connected, all devices connect to the HomePod mini, and at the same time the M3 Border Router is broken, so devices can never be added to Aqara.
