Okay… I purchased 3 of these ceiling lights with 3 H2 smart plugs. I wired in the light and restored power and it light up. I disconnected the power again to install the new switch. Once I restored power the light did not turn on. I tried to pair the switch and just like when I set up the U400 smart lock… it reported that I didn’t have a thread router on the network. I have an Apple HomePod and an Apple TV connected via Ethernet. So this is clearly inaccurate. I had to switch to zigbee protocol to pair the H2 and it did work. I still had no control over the ceiling light T1M. So… as a last ditch effort I decided to wire back in the original switch to regain power to try an pair the T1M… it powers on but I cannot pair it to save my life!
I have both the G410 doorbell hub and the G3 camera hub… neither will allow me to pair this light.
I may try and move the hub closer… although it’s maybe 2 meters away.
In all honesty… as excited as I was to get involved in the Aqara ecosystem… it’s just not worth the unimaginable frustration in attempting to make everything work.
As I’m typing this… a delivery for 5 more G100 cameras delivered… not sure if I will even open the box at this point… returns will be abundantly! Lol
Well… moving the hub worked… not sure if it will reach once I move it back to its home? Also need to wire the new switch back in… and hope everything plays nice together?
Well… I’ve got the new switch in… and nothing is happening? The switch in the app does nothing… the physical button is lighting on and off as it should… both in app and when physically pushed… but it does nothing.
The light also does nothing in the app… but it appears to be connected and powered.
I don’t understand what I’ve done wrong? At a complete loss here?![]()
I can’t seem to get the light to respond? It says it’s offline in app. I’ve tried restarting the hub several times… waited for nearly an hour to see if some how it would go online. I think it might be a bust?
At this point I’ve removed all the Aqara products… I guess I’m going to wire back in the old fixture and switch. I really wanted this to work for all 3 bedrooms.
Hi!
Sorry to hear you’ve been having trouble getting your new devices set up; that’s never fun.
Personally, I would start by removing the new devices from the app completely and starting fresh. First, install your new switch and connect it to the hub that’s closest to it.
After that, make sure to enable Decoupled Switch Mode on the switch. This is important because it keeps constant power going to the light.
Once decoupled mode is enabled, the physical button will act only as a wireless button and won’t actually cut power to the light anymore.
Also, double-check in the Aqara app that the switch is set to “On” so the light is receiving power.
As a second step, you can then install and configure your ceiling light.
After everything is connected, you’ll need to create automations so that when you press the switch button, it turns the light on and off.
That should get everything working the way you expect ![]()
Let me know how it goes!
so what this does is keep the light smart, Basically without this mode your switch is cutting power to ceiling light which then means the app can not see it, its really all it is, as with any smart light once power is cut, it becomes dumb as it has no power at all running through it.
By enabling decouple switch mode on the switch when its on, it want cut the power to the ceiling light (the light will then only draw roughly same power as some left plugged in to a socket but switched off. to keep it alive on the network.
