Understanding Battery Voltage in Symmetra PX

I recently noticed something interesting in the web interface of our Symmetra PX unit. The battery voltage is listed as 214VDC, which caught my attention. I decided to dig deeper into this to understand how it works.

Each battery pack has 8x12V SLA batteries, right? So, 8 multiplied by 12 equals 96V. But how does this add up to 192V or 214V? My initial thought was that the UPS might be using two battery modules in series to achieve 192V. If that’s the case, should I ensure that columns A & B are balanced, and columns C & D are balanced to keep everything running smoothly?

Alternatively, could the UPS be monitoring the bus voltage and using relays to adjust which bus it’s using based on which one needs a boost? I’m not entirely sure, but I’m curious to explore this further.

Has anyone else encountered this or have insights into how the Symmetra PX manages its battery buses? I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences!
