Drop in and share a bit of what I’ve figured out after a few months of tweaking my Aqara setup with Apple HomeKit. I’m no expert, more of a curious tinkerer, but man—once you get things synced just right, it really feels like magic.
First big one: placement is EVERYTHING. I moved my Aqara motion sensors just a few inches and went from spotty detection to buttery smooth automation triggers. If it’s catching sunlight or too far from the hub? Game over.
Also, if you’re using automations in the Home app, keep them simple. I was trying to get too fancy at first, nesting conditions and all that, and ended up debugging for hours. Start basic, test, then build it out.
One more thing that saved me tons of frustration—make sure you’re updating firmware through the Aqara app BEFORE linking to HomeKit. Some of my devices were acting all buggy until I did that.
