Hey everyone, just wanted to share a few things I’ve picked up while getting my Aqara setup running buttery smooth with HomeKit.
I started out super excited but quickly hit some small bumps that I wish I’d known earlier. Stuff like sensors randomly becoming “No Response” or automations not triggering when they should. Now that I’ve got things dialed in, I figured I’d throw out what worked for me in case it helps someone else.
Biggest game-changer? A stable Home Hub setup. I moved from using my iPhone as the hub to a dedicated HomePod mini, and man—what a difference. It keeps everything online and snappy.
Also, for anyone with a lot of devices (I’ve got 20+ sensors and switches now), make sure your Zigbee network doesn’t get overwhelmed. I added an extra Aqara Hub in another part of the house and things have been way more reliable since.
Pro tip: don’t mix too many bridges and apps unless you want random headaches. I tried pairing some devices through other third-party apps and it became a mess. Keeping everything in Aqara app + Home app just works best.
Curious to hear from anyone else—how’s your setup running? Any hidden tricks or automations you swear by?
Let’s help each other get the most out of this setup!
