Hey ,
Share some of my experience turning my Aqara Hub into a HomeKit beast. I’m what you’d probably call a smart home nerd and after tinkering with everything from Zigbee hubs to Home Assistant, I gotta say—Aqara + HomeKit is a power combo if you set it up right.
First off, pair that hub directly with the Apple Home app ASAP. Don’t mess with the Mi Home app too much if you’re all in on HomeKit. Aqara’s native HomeKit support gets you super-fast response times and rock-solid automations.
What really unlocked the magic for me was using Aqara sensors with HomeKit scenes. My personal favorite? A simple setup with a door sensor on the bedroom and a motion sensor in the hallway. Between sunset and midnight, if I walk out of the room, hallway lights gently come on. Zero lag. Feels like living in the future but without needing a coding degree.
Also, quick tip: Use HomeKit automations instead of Aqara app ones for smoother transitions and more logic options. Trust me, HomeKit can handle time, presence, and geofencing much better.
Anyone else mixing Aqara and HomeKit? Drop your favorite setups below—would love to steal some ideas.
Cheers!
