Hey folks! Just wanted to share a little win in my smart home journey in case it helps anyone out there.
I’m somewhere between a newbie and an enthusiast—let’s say a “tech dabbler”—and I recently decided to get my Aqara setup talking to Alexa. At first, I was worried it’d be one of those all-day headache kinda projects, but surprisingly, it took me less than an hour, and now everything plays nice together.
So here’s how it went: I’ve got the Aqara Hub M2, a couple of motion sensors, and a smart wall switch. I enabled the Aqara skill in the Alexa app, logged into my Aqara account, and boom—Alexa found all my devices right away. Talk about plug-and-play.
What’s really cool is I can now say stuff like “Alexa, turn off the hallway light” without needing to reach for my phone or fiddle with scenes. Even got a voice routine set up where the hallway light goes off and the AC kicks in when I say “Goodnight.” Definitely a small flex, I know.
Has anyone gone deeper with Alexa routines or custom skills using Aqara? Curious how far we can push it.
Let me know if you want a quick walkthrough—happy to help anyone still on the fence.
Happy automating!
