Upgrading my car’s security has been a top priority ever since my family experienced a burglary years ago. I wanted to ensure that my vehicle, which is often parked in less-than-ideal locations, is as secure as possible. After some research, I decided to go with Wyze cameras and sensors, and I must say, the results have been phenomenal.
I started by installing a Wyze Cam v2 inside my car, secured in a metal box to prevent tampering. The box is tethered to the vehicle’s frame, making it nearly impossible to remove without damaging the car. This setup not only deters potential thieves but also protects the camera and its SD card from being stolen.
Next, I added a Wyze Sense package to monitor the car door. The sensor is discreetly placed behind the window frame, ensuring it’s out of sight but still functional. This setup alerts me instantly if the door is opened or left ajar, giving me peace of mind even when I’m not nearby.
To enhance visibility, I installed an IR light outside the car. This provides clear footage even in low-light conditions, making it easier to identify any suspicious activity. I also set up a portable WiFi router to ensure the camera can connect to the internet and send live alerts, even when I’m on the go.
One of the biggest challenges was ensuring the camera’s reliability when not near a WiFi hotspot. By configuring the camera to record directly to the SD card when offline, I ensured continuous monitoring without gaps. When the car is within range of a hotspot, the camera seamlessly switches to live streaming.
This project has been a great learning experience, and I’m thrilled with how it’s improved my car’s security. I highly recommend exploring Wyze’s range of cameras and sensors for anyone looking to upgrade their vehicle’s protection. The combination of visibility, alerts, and physical security has given me a newfound sense of safety, knowing my car is well-protected no matter where it is.
