Hi everyone, I just wanted to share my recent experience upgrading to OpenHAB 3.0. It was a bit nerve-wracking at first, but I must say, the new interface and features are worth it!
I’ve been using OpenHAB for years, starting with KNX and gradually adding other protocols. When I decided to move to OH3, I was a bit overwhelmed by the changes, especially the new YAML configuration. But after some research and trial and error, I’ve got everything working smoothly!
One thing that really helped was creating a single MQTT device as a template and then duplicating it for all my other devices. It saved me so much time compared to configuring each one manually. I even managed to sync my kitchen dimmers using Node-RED—now pressing any switch adjusts both lamps perfectly!
If anyone is planning an upgrade, my advice is to take it step by step. Start with one device, get it working, and then expand. Don’t hesitate to reach out if you need help—I’m happy to share what I’ve learned!
Cheers, and happy automating! ![]()
