Add an Aqara outlet to extend your Aqara network reliability. Double its use by setting it to “on” if you have guests in the house. “Off” if not. Tame down some of your automations if you have guests to avoid frustrations and confusion on untrained guests.
Hi @mark_e_rizzo,
Great tip — and I have to say, your “untrained guests” comment really made me laugh. I’m going to steal that! Aqara devices with a constant power supply, like outlets or lamps, are perfect Zigbee extenders… but also perfect for confusing unsuspecting visitors.
In my house, I’ve seen guests jump when they walk into the toilet and the lights snap on, the window suddenly opens depending on the time of day — and then the lid of my smart toilet gracefully lifts itself like it’s about to perform. That one’s always the showstopper.
I’m seriously considering handing out badges: “Certified Smart Home Guest – Trained and Ready.”
Always remember: “If your car is smarter than your home… you’re driving into the future while living in the past”
Love the CSHG concept. Going forward, no one is allowed in the house without completing online training.
@mark_e_rizzo, with the great idea to ‘tame down some automations for guests’ is that something you do via the added Aqara outlet or just an additional tip? Just want to make sure I’m not missing the benefits you get from an additional outlet.
