Using a Custom Wake Word for Assist on iOS 18

Hey everyone! I just wanted to share a really cool feature I discovered in iOS 18 that allows you to set a custom wake word for Apple’s Assist in the Home app. This is super handy if you want to avoid saying the default wake words like ‘Hey Siri’ and instead use something more personal or specific to your setup. Here’s a quick guide on how to set it up:

  1. Open Settings: Go to your device’s Settings app.
  2. Navigate to Accessibility: Scroll down and tap on Accessibility.
  3. Select Vocal Shortcuts: Under the Interaction section, choose Vocal Shortcuts.
  4. Add a New Action: Tap on the ‘+’ button to add a new action.
  5. Choose the Assist in App Shortcut: Select the Assist in App shortcut from the list.
  6. Set Your Custom Wake Word: Type in the wake word or phrase you want to use. It can be anything you like!
  7. Train the Wake Word: Follow the prompts to say your wake word a few times so your device can learn it.

Once you’ve set it up, saying your custom wake word will open the Home app and start a conversation with Assist. This is a fantastic way to make your smart home experience more personalized and efficient!

I’d love to hear if anyone else has tried this feature and what custom wake words they’re using. It’s a really neat addition to iOS 18 and I think it could be especially useful for those looking to streamline their smart home interactions. Happy automating everyone! :rocket:
