I have recently Moved my smart lighting from philips hue to aqara is i use lots off there products hue had a third party app which you can set lights to flash when you got a phone call or sms or WhatsApp is there a way to do this with aqara i appreciate any help simon
Hello @sbatty_hotmail_com
There is no such function in Aqara home, I assume that this can be done in Home assistant.
Yes it can. In the Home Assistant app on your phone, go to settings → companion app → sensors → manage sensors → notification sensor → last notification, enable it, then set up an automation with that sensor entity as a trigger and a flash action on the light/s of your choice.
Thanks for that i am really new yo home assistant is there a walk through to the automation have done the first bit ok but stuck on the second thanks for your help with this
Forgot to add, use an If condition with a location zone set to your home, otherwise the lights will flash even when you’re out.
With iftt I did know that this kind of thing could be done, but through homeassistant and even with Philips hue I didn’t know. What did you use at the time with Philips hue?
It was a app from play store can not rember what the name was i will look to see if i can find it
I have done that but still struggling to create the automation i have enabled the sensor and don the if condition it just senor entity
Not sure about ios, but if you’re on Android make sure you’ve set up the allow list for which apps are allowed for notification monitoring. And enabled the location sensors if using them.
A simple automation will look like the below image.
I imagine that it should only be possible to use that type of application on Android. In IOs, I wouldn’t know how to do it.
