Using Smart Lighting to Brighten Up My Mom's New Home

As many of you know, my mom recently moved into a beautiful independent living community after spending several months in a nursing home recovering from a serious injury. She’s been going through a tough time physically, mentally, and emotionally, and I wanted to do something to make her new space feel more welcoming and uplifting.

One thing I noticed while helping her move was that she has a lot of colored lights stored away. I decided to take some of these and create a cozy lighting setup in her new apartment. I used some strip lights along her molding and added a few accent lights around the room. The result? It’s been a game-changer!

The lights have really helped brighten up her space, and they’ve even helped her make new friends. People stop by to admire the lights, and it’s given her a topic to connect with others. It’s been heartwarming to see how something as simple as lighting can have such a positive impact.

I’d love to hear from others who have used lighting in creative ways to enhance their living spaces or to help loved ones feel more at home. Do you have any tips or favorite lighting setups that have made a difference in your life or someone else’s?
