Very dissatisfied with G100 cameras

After 4 months of use, the cameras are still disconnecting constantly. I’ve tried EVERYTHING I’ve read on this forum, and it’s still failing.

The camera loses connection for a few minutes and then reconnects (sometimes it doesn’t reconnect at all and I have to restart it).

I’m listing everything I’ve checked to see if you recommend anything else, since I’m talking to Aqara support and they haven’t offered any solution.

  • Good Wi-Fi connection. Currently using Deco BE3600
  • Good power supply
  • Connected to HomeKit and Aqara App
  • No SD cards installed but recording with HomeKit

All cameras are updated to the latest version. Of the 7 I have installed, 2 usually fail, but it’s random; some days it happens to be a different one.

I hope someone can help me. Thanks

Hello, @jferre004, welcome to the forum. If I were you, I would test the work with the Aqara application separately. I temporarily untied HomeKit for a while and did some research.

Hi, thanks for your reply. Would you do this with all the cameras or test them individually? I realize it’s losing connection because I get a HomeKit notification.

Well I know for fact that Apple home app is unstable as I had issues with network issue but I changed my router and Gemini help me set it up the right way so Apple home comunícate with Apple devices and in the end to all my matter devices I also had an WiFi switch with turned ON the light by himself because of Apple home app and now after I made all those changes on my router everything is great now.what you need to try is change the smart WiFi off and make 2 separate bands 2.4G and 5G then on each band chose an stable Chanel o the 2.4G chose Chanel 1,6 or 11 see Whitehall gives you the best connectivity also on the bandwidth chose 40hz now on the 5g band set Chanel 36,40,44 or 48 I have set mine on 36 and the bandwidth 20/40/80/160 this way you get almost the speed you have but by WiFi after all this are set reboot your router ether from deco app or just unplug it and plug it back but make sure that if you have made those changes to save them before you reboot.then restore your cameras and connect them to the 2.4G band as it is more stable and cover more distance and see for a few days if your cameras still connect and disconnect as I think this would fix your issue.here some screens with my router setup mine is an HUAWEI but the steeps are the same for each to make those bands as independent by the way it is better you go to router web page were you do all those changes and not on the deco app.

Hi, thank you so much for your message. In the case of the Deco, I have a dedicated IoT network. It doesn’t allow me to make as many changes as you do, but I’ll investigate and try to make it as similar as possible to yours. Let’s hope I have some luck.

Thanks for your help.

Sure no problem I do not understand very well Iot but try asking Gemini explain how to configure your deco for your smart home as for me it helped me more then the Apple tech who I do not know nothing since the ios26.5 release :rofl::rofl: and I do not know if they will call me again ether

I just asked Gemini en Spanish about your issue and says same thing that you need to change the Chanel from automatic to static 1,6 or 11 as this are the best for the 2.4G band.also deactivate the band steering or smart connect if is activated but ask Gemini about it and will guide you steep by steep and tells you exactly where to go and what to change

Hello @jferre004
If configuring the router does not solve the problem, try disabling unused AI detection features; this helps resolve the issue.

I do not think that is the issue here, because this cameras are made to work with AI detection if disabling a feature then what is the point have such feature added in the first place?makes no sense that an feature from the AI detection cause connectivity issue.2 days ago I was changing the Chanel on my 5G band but I was doing it on web page of my router and I save it but I didn’t restart my router too and I was on an fitness plus sesión and from no were it freeze and the issue was that my router was changing Chanel and all my devices that were connected to 5G band including my Camera G3 my M3 hub were offline during the Chanel changing.now yesterday I changed the Chanel on my 5G band to 36 save it and rebooted my router and had no issue since then

Hi . You should familiarize yourself with this topic before doubting my words.

How a bug like this even makes it to production? This isn’t some rare edge case, it’s a core feature that should be a standard, elementary test case in any QA smoke test. To miss this means the quality control was either completely non-existent or knowingly ignored. Is the business logic really to just ship broken firmware and only start fixing it when customers start screaming?

Telling users to just keep certain features disabled is not a solution. If a feature is listed in the official specifications and included in the settings menu, the device must be engineered with enough computing overhead to handle it. A product should be fully capable of performing even when all of its built-in features are enabled simultaneously.

Nah I think you confuse what that person asked on his post and mention with what you wrote here.if you read that post the person from aqara doesn’t ask him to turn off some AI detection features, ask only for an screenshot to see what features are activated when camera goes offline.

Hi Raman,

Thanks for your help. Actually, none of my cameras seem to have any AI functions connected. I only use person detection and motion detection. Is that correct?

@Raman.V is a loyal user and an old friend of Aqara. He just shared some of my previous troubleshooting methods with everyone. I don’t think we need to question his response too much. If there is really a problem, I think it is also my previous statement that has a problem.

Regarding this issue, I provide some methods for your reference: Firstly, determine whether there is a problem with the camera itself, such as a hardware defect. You can swap these two cameras that are often offline with cameras from other locations. If the problem persists, it is likely that there is a defect in the hardware or firmware itself. If the problem disappears and the replaced camera starts to have problems, you need to consider whether it is a signal interference problem or it may easily cause the camera to work at full capacity at that location.

Before making these adjustments, please make sure to upgrade the firmware to the latest version. We have conducted multiple rounds of firmware updates on G100 to improve its stability.

More likely is ether the router config or firmware issue as it is unlike that from 7 cameras he have 2 are broken already don’t you think?
