VW ID.Charger vs ID.Charger.Connect: Worth the Upgrade?

Hi everyone! I’m currently researching the best way to set up a home charging solution for my wife’s upcoming ID3. After some research, I’ve come across the VW ID.Charger and ID.Charger.Connect options. I wanted to share my thoughts and see if anyone else has experience with these chargers.

First, the basic model is just a wall socket, which seems straightforward and affordable. The Connect version, on the other hand, adds WiFi connectivity, which could be really handy for managing charging schedules and monitoring usage. However, the price difference is about €300, which makes me wonder if the added features justify the cost.

Since we can already connect to the car directly via the VW app, I’m curious if the WiFi functionality in the Connect version offers any significant benefits. Maybe it’s more about future-proofing or integrating with a smart home system? I’d love to hear from anyone who has experience with either model or has done a cost-benefit analysis.

In the meantime, I’m leaning towards the basic model to save some money, but I’m open to changing my mind if there are compelling reasons to go with the Connect version. Thanks in advance for your insights!
