Water Leak Sensor issue

I am really struggling with Aqara Water Leak Sensors and them maintaining a good signal with M2 Hub and dropping off line or not reporting a leak when tested.

Do these devices use standard Zigbee 3.0 protocol? I have used them in a third party hub and notice they don’t use any of my Zigbee routers to help build a strong Zigbee mesh network.

Moving my M2 Hub is not really an option due network rack location so I am at my Witts end trying to get these to be reliable. Anyone else having these issues?

@oj_goshawk It’s understandable to feel frustrated when your Aqara Water Leak Sensors aren’t maintaining a stable connection. Yes, these sensors do use the standard Zigbee 3.0 protocol, as confirmed in the specifications. However, there are a few factors you might want to consider to improve their reliability:

  1. Hub Placement: While moving the M2 Hub might not be feasible, ensuring that it’s centrally located relative to your other Zigbee devices can enhance connectivity. This helps in maintaining a stable mesh network.

  2. Connection and Interference: Since the sensors and hub operate on 2.4GHz, they might face interference from other devices on the same frequency. Ensure that the sensors are not placed on metal surfaces, as this can disrupt the signal.

  3. Device Limitations: Keep in mind that the Aqara Hub can support up to 32 accessories. If you have more, it might affect performance.

  4. Battery and Signal Strength: Check your sensor’s battery levels and ensure they are not too far from the hub.

Hi!I would suggest just adding any constantly powered to Aqara device which will be used as repeater and should resolve your issue. This device should be in Zigbee mode (if the product supports dual protocol) and should not be the switch with no neutral.

Does it have to be Aqara router device or can it be third party?

Only ask because their website and documentation states it uses Zigbee 3.0 and you can add third party devices but have not been able to. I have 4 Zigbee smart plugs that can act as routers for the leak sensors but can’t get them added to M2 Hub.
