I use the water leak sensor on top of my water softener salt, then when the salt level drops and the sensor gets wet I have homeassistant send my phone a notification. Can share more details if interested. Have to say it’s works really well and is comparitively cheap vs. any other solutions I looked at (i.e. building custom one). My only concern is the salt will make the probes at the bottom rust faster.
@dueyfinster That’s a really creative and practical use of the water leak sensor! It’s great to hear that it’s working well for you and is cost-effective compared to other options. Your concern about the salt causing the probes to rust faster is valid. While the sensor is IP67 dustproof and waterproof , salt can be quite corrosive. It might be a good idea to keep an eye on the sensor’s performance over time. If you do notice any issues, you can always reset the sensor using the method described: Long press the reset button on the shell for 5 seconds until the blue light flashes continuously .
Thanks for sharing this great experience with us! We’d love to hear more details if you’re willing to share. If you have any suggestions or ideas for improvement, you can submit manual customer service feedback.
Hello, the probes below can be extended by screwing your extended sensors to the hexagon, and the leak sensor, the screws are unscrewed there.
