@social_rux It’s wonderful to see your enthusiasm for smart home automation! Here are a few automation ideas that might spark your creativity:

  1. Summer Comfort Control: Automate your home to maintain a comfortable environment during hot weather. You can set up an automation where, if the temperature or humidity exceeds a certain level, your air conditioner turns on automatically, and you receive an alert. This setup can be achieved using a temperature and humidity sensor, a smart plug, and a Hub M2.

  2. Security with Water Leak Detection: Enhance your home’s security by setting up a water leak detection system. If a leak is detected, a specified alarm sound can be activated, and an alert is pushed to your device. This can be implemented using a water leak sensor and a Hub M2.

  3. Energy Efficiency: To save energy, you can automate your lighting system to turn off when no motion is detected for a specified period. This can be done with a motion sensor, smart plug, smart switch, and a Hub M2.

  4. Bedtime Routine: Create a relaxing environment before bedtime by automating your lights and curtains. When you get into bed, you can have the brightness and color temperature of your lights adjusted, and your curtains closed. Use devices like FP2, a roller shade controller, Aqara bulbs, and a Hub M2 for this setup.

These examples showcase the versatility of smart home automation, allowing you to tailor your home environment to your needs and preferences. Feel free to share your own experiences or ask for more ideas!

I have an old none smart tv in my bedroom, I normally like to sleep with some background noise so on the tv I would set a sleep timer of 1 hour. What I’ve done is using a Hub M2 and a magic cube I’ve set the hub up to iR as a remote control for my TV and a routine to press menu > pause > down > pause > select > pause > down > down > pause > select on the remote so that it sets the sleep timer. I trigger this by rotating the magic cube facing down and the cube is right next to my bed.
It only saves me about 5 seconds. but thats a 5 second saving every night.
Nothing fancy but means I don’t have to fiddle with the tv remote in the dark.

I have an automation created in HomeKit, which when I say “good night”, closes the blinds and opens the curtains. He also talks to me through the HomePod telling me the time it is and the weather on the street. Then open the lights dimly on the way to the room and close the rest of the lights.
