What was your VERY FIRST Aqara device?

G100, loved it! Somehow the fact that AQARA had Apple Compatible devices was hidden from me in all of my searches. Glad I found out! I now have 2 cameras and the Doorbell Hub. Aside from some issues with SmartThings, everything else works great. Fully functional in my Apple HomeKit as well!

My first Aqara device was the G410 Doorbell. Got it to replace my Logitech one since the front glass was separating from the body, and started to look bad. Plus, there were so many disconnect/offline issues with it. Heard good things about the Aqara doorbell and decided to onboard myself. Only wish there was color night vision, but it wasn’t a complete dealbreaker. Now I’ve been slowly adding more and more Aqara devices. It’ll get ya

Mine was a wall switch H1 3-gang (no neutral) which I added to the UK server but then aqara removed support for allowing that so I can never remove it.

I am trapped in this relationship now like a hostage.

Aqara does not make a 3-gang wall switch for the UK market.

It all started with M2 Hub, water leak sensors, temp & humidity sensor and door/window sensor for my summer house. My-First-Aqara

My-First-Aqara I purchased the M2 hub with a motion sensor and several contact sensors.

My first devices were the Hub M2, temperature sensors and window sensors.
That started in 2022

410 doorbell, so wanted to ditch the Ring devices. The price was right at Holidays, quickly got me to get G5 (POE). The second device is the one I am really happy with purchasing.

I was looking at curtain openers so I picked up two aqara curtain motors and the USB Hub. Then I found out about door sensors, strip lights and cameras! It’s been fun learning and tying everything together to make a smart home ecosystem.

My very first Aqara setup was the E1 Hub paired with a vibration and tilt sensor. I used it as a simple but clever way to get notified whenever new mail arrived in my mailbox, and that little project ended up being my introduction to the whole Aqara ecosystem. What started as a single automation has grown into a full smart‑home build, and I’m now running more than 60 Aqara devices throughout my setup.

My first Aqara device(s) were a bunch of leak sensors. Our washing machine had recently leaked water and flooded a section of our house. I realized that if I had know quickly, I could have easily prevented almost all of the damage. So I immediately purchased the sensors and set up a network of leak detection all around our house. This saved us a bunch of money when our kitchen faucet started leaking and I knew about it and could stop it within minutes.

My first aqara device was the g4 doorbell. And then after that I was hooked. I love aqara so much. It’s by far my favorite Smart home devices and smart home platform because of the integrations with other smart home platforms. I also love that they are making more and more matter and thread devices. I freaking love thread/ matter so much. And then it just keeps improving and improving, it’s just the best.

Beginning of a love story:

My first device(s) from Aqara was the starter kit.

I purchased it when I moved into my current home and it gave me a sense of peace knowing I had it safeguarded while I was away. (Took a month or so to move in) Automating a lamp with the smart plug so that it seemed to be occupied was rest but knowing I had an alarm was even better.

As we moved in I slowly built up buying contact sensors, water leak sensors adding more as I went along. Compatibility was also and is also one of Aqara’s strongest selling points. I was able to maintain certain aspects of the system while others who would end up only using HomeKit could also use and manage the same devices.

Now all of my cameras have been replaced my Aqara devices and a huge majority of my home runs on their switches, sensors, bulbs and hubs.

The new g400 doorbell makes things even better as I can take the ring on my phone as a call. I’m looking forward to the thermostat release so that I can install it by the front door and see my visitors come up on the screen.

While we wait for an official garage door opener I can use my garage u200 to activate my current gdo via HomeKey from outside the garage.

I am definitely happy with my Aqara devices and can’t wait to add more. It’s a company that I recommend always and in my experience listens to its customers.
