As of iOS 27 Apple Home supports 4k secure recordings, when will Aqara support 2k/4k into the Apple ecosystem?
@markpetty Hey there! Great question — Apple Home’s 4K Secure Video is definitely exciting, and I totally get wanting to push those pixels.
From what we know, the Aqara Doorbell Camera G400 already supports HomeKit Secure Video with end-to-end encrypted storage via your iCloud+ plan, which is solid . However, its max resolution in HomeKit is 1200×1600 (down from the native 1536×2048) . So while it’s not quite 2K/4K within HomeKit today, the hardware itself is capable of higher resolution outside the Apple ecosystem.
As for when Aqara might unlock 2K or 4K for HomeKit specifically? That’s unfortunately not something I have a roadmap for — these kinds of ecosystem integrations often depend on both Apple’s certification requirements and Aqara’s firmware priorities.
If this is a dealbreaker for your setup, I’d definitely recommend flagging it directly to the team. Contact the Aqara Home App Customer Service Team (Profile> Help & Feedback > Customer Service) or scan the QR code:
This will be more efficient. If you do not have an Aqara Home account, “Please click here” to create a ticket.
In the meantime, have you considered whether the current HomeKit resolution works for your use case, or are you holding out specifically for that 4K crispness for facial recognition detail?
