When will matter support doorbells?

So I got a g4 that I’m using with home assistant and well the picture isn’t smooth so do we have any heads up when we will have full matter support?

What exactly do you mean by ‘full Matter support’?

The current Matter standard, version 1.4, does not support doorbells or cameras. Right?

… Connectivity Standards Alliance, which oversees Matter development, has opted to ignore home security cameras and similar devices at this time… At some point in the future it seems likely that home security cameras and smart doorbell cams will support Matter, whether over Wi-Fi or Thread.

Hello @markus94
There are no cameras that support the Matter standard video stream, but Matter may support it in the future.
However, there’s no information on whether the G4 will be updated to support this.

Yeah I do know this but if we have heard anything about it since the g4 was announced with matter support.

Thanks for taking your time to answer

Aqara cannot currently certify the G4 for Matter because the Connectivity Standards Alliance (CSA) has not finalised a Matter specification for cameras or video doorbells.

In official press releases, such as those issued during CES 2023, Aqara has stated that the G4 ‘will support Matter in the future once the camera specification is available’.
This means that Aqara can only add Matter support once the CSA has officially defined and approved camera and doorbell device types within the Matter standard.

As soon as a new standard is published, you can check the Matter manual under “Supported Device Types” to see if and which device types are supported. However, after adding cameras and doorbells, Aqara needs time to have the devices certified. Currently, there are no indications that cameras or doorbells will be included in the next version 1.5.

Until then, support for Matter on the G4 remains a promise for the distant future.
