Why always Aqara

My first experience with Aqara started with a mix of curiosity and a bit of a “let’s see how far I can take this” mindset.

I chose Aqara mainly because it uses Zigbee. I liked the idea of having a smart home setup that doesn’t overload my Wi-Fi and just works quietly in the background. Stability was a big deal for me, and Zigbee felt like the smarter, more “serious” choice.

On top of that, the price point was very reasonable, the app was clean and reliable, and the compatibility with Apple HomeKit made everything feel nicely integrated from day one.

My journey started with the M2 hub and a couple of basic devices, with a simple goal: control some lights and an electric heater. Pretty standard… at least at the beginning.

Then things escalated (in a good way ).

I added temperature sensors so the heating could turn on and off automatically depending on the room conditions. That was the moment it stopped being just “smart gadgets” and started feeling like a truly smart home.

From there, I kept building: radiator controllers, more lights, more sensors… and more ideas. Every new device was like unlocking a new level, learning something new, and refining the system a bit more.

Now, what started as a small experiment has turned into a setup that is efficient, automated, and honestly… a bit addictive.

If I had to sum it up: I chose Aqara for being affordable and Zigbee-based, but I stayed because it’s reliable, flexible, and actually fun to build with.

We always start with small changes, and then big changes follow.

And i hope Aqara release more and more different and small devices to keep improving!
