Why is it wrong to use Chinese products?

I live in Mexico where it is hard to buy Aqara products officially so my only source is Ali or a friend who lives in HK.

I bought 2 G350 but they’re region locked.

While I understand that price should be different my region (latam) doesn’t have an official vendor.

In the other hand regions like the UK has specific products made for them.

The region lock is due to, among other things:

• China’s Cyber Security Law: Legal requirements mandate that data from domestic Chinese devices must be stored on servers within China.

• Regulatory reasons: Devices like the FP300 use specific radar frequencies (e.g. mmWave) that may be regulated differently or restricted in your region.

Switch the region in your Home app to “Mainland China”. This usually allows you to add the imported devices.

You have to keep in mind that selling products worldwide isn’t simple. Companies have to follow laws and comply with extensive regulations. Basically, it costs a lot of money and effort to officially enter the market in every single country.
