The new W600 radiator thermostat is described as being compatible with M28 x 1.5mm valves. My radiators have valves that take the E1 thermostat (without adaptors) but I think the E1 is describled as compatible with M30 x 1.5mm valves. Does this mean the W600 has a different thread and won’t fit as a direct replacement for an E1, or is one of the specifactions perhaps wrong?
Hi, welcome to the forum. The W600 has an M30 thread, where did you read about M28?
Maybe it’s just a typo in the text.
Everywhere. A few examples:
Product News on the Aqara Shop site:
The Radiator Thermostat W600 combines smart automation with energy savings. Compatible with popular valve types (RA, RAV, RAVL, Caleffi, Giacomini, M28×1.5)
(Aqara Showcases New Smart Home Innovations at IFA 2025 - Aqara UK Shop)

The same invitation, with the same M28 reference, also appears on X.
Homekit News:
It works with RA, RAV, RAVL, Caleffi, Giacomini, and M28×1.5 valves

Hello, I understand everything.
You have read the information about the adapters for the W600. The kit includes one of the adapters for M28.
Exactly - the W600 just has more adapters inside the package
That’s really good to know, thanks for clarifying. It’s certainly not the impression given by any of the announcements I’ve seen though, presumably all informed by an Aqara press release. Your comment is the first I’ve seen that indicates the W600 is compatible with an M30 thread, and their eligibility criteria for the trial (posted in this forum) doesn’t include M30 as a compatible thread. Frankly that’s really stupid of Aqara.
Hi, I disagree with you. The release clearly states “and M28” in the compatible valves line. Nowhere does it mention W600 M28.
Well, I stand by my criticism. Yes, the excerpt you quote says “and M28”, but in the context of a bunch of other valves that it works with. None of those is “M30”. There is absolutely no indication that this is a list of supplied adaptors, just that these are the types with which it is compatible.
You don’t say where your quote is from but it looks like it’s a page from from homekitnews (Aqara Unveils New Devices Ahead of IFA 2025). That page mentions compatibility with M28 but as far as I can see there is no mention whatsoever of M30.
Where is it clearly stated that the W600 is compatible with M30 valves?
I agree, My first thoughts were that it was as standard a M28 thread so I moved on thinking it was not compatible, nowhere does it state M30 as standard.
