Winter Wonderland Automation Setup

The winter season is the perfect time to cozy up with some smart home automation! I recently set up my home to automatically adjust to the colder months, and it’s been a game-changer. Here’s how I did it and some tips for anyone looking to do the same.

First, I integrated my Govee smart LED bulbs throughout the house. They not only provide beautiful, customizable lighting but also save energy with their smart features. I’ve programmed them to dim gradually in the evenings, creating a soothing atmosphere as the days get shorter.

Next, I wanted to ensure my outdoor spaces stayed safe and visible. I installed a Govee video camera with motion detection near my front door. It’s been fantastic—sending me alerts whenever there’s movement, even during the darkest nights. The night vision is top-notch, and I can access the footage from my phone anywhere.

For the heating system, I paired my thermostat with a Shelly Plus 2 PM switch. This allows me to control the heating remotely and set schedules so the house is warm by the time I get back from work. I love how it seamlessly integrates with my existing setup!

One thing I struggled with initially was setting up the automation rules. I found that using the built-in routines in my smart hub made the process much smoother. For example, I have a ‘Good Night’ routine that turns off all lights, locks the doors, and sets the thermostat to a lower temperature. It’s saved me so much time!

I also recommend investing in some smart plugs for holiday decorations. They make it easy to schedule when your lights turn on and off, perfect for creating that festive ambiance without the hassle.

If you’re just starting out, don’t be overwhelmed. Begin with one room or one function and gradually expand. The key is to enjoy the process and let technology enhance your lifestyle. Happy automating! :ice_cube::sparkles:
