As the winter season approaches, I’ve been thinking about how to make the most of my smart home setup to keep things cozy and efficient. Here’s a look at how I’ve been using my devices to enjoy the season to the fullest!

I’ve always been a fan of Govee lights, and this year I decided to step it up with a festive light show. Using their RGBIC strips, I’ve created a dynamic display that changes colors based on the time of day and even syncs with my music. It’s amazing how a little lighting can transform the mood of the house!
2. Snowy Scenes and Outdoor Cameras
This year, I upgraded my outdoor cameras to include a 10’ snow globe as part of my light show. While Buffalo’s snowfall has been a bit sparse this year, the globe still adds a magical touch to my yard. I’ve also been using my cameras to keep an eye on the snow accumulation and ensure my paths stay clear and safe.
3. Smart Heating and Thermostat Adjustments
Keeping the house warm has never been easier with my Nest thermostat. I’ve set up a routine that adjusts the temperature based on my schedule, ensuring the house is toasty when I get home and a bit cooler when I’m away. It’s been a great way to save energy while staying comfortable.
4. Time-Zone Fixes and Smart Schedules
One thing I’ve been working on is adjusting the time zone settings on my devices. It turns out that some sensors were reporting times an hour off, which was causing confusion. After a bit of tweaking, everything now syncs perfectly, and my routines run like clockwork.
