Workaround for Google Home Device Connectivity Issues

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a workaround I discovered for a recurring issue I’ve been having with my Chromecast Audio devices. I’ve been using them to connect to my existing amplifier setup, and while they work perfectly through other apps like Google Home, they occasionally become unreachable within my Homey ecosystem. This has been a bit frustrating, but I’ve found a temporary solution that seems to help.

After some research and experimentation, I stumbled upon a method where adjusting the date on my mobile devices to March 1st allows the Chromecast Audio devices to be recognized and connected within Homey. It’s a bit of a hack, but it works! I’ve tried it a few times, and while it does take some patience and persistence, it’s been effective for me. I’ve also noticed that after setting the devices up, reverting the date back to the current day doesn’t disrupt the connection, which is a relief.

I’d love to hear if anyone else has encountered similar issues or if there are more permanent solutions out there. It would be great to find a way to ensure consistent connectivity without having to adjust dates each time. In the meantime, this workaround has been a lifesaver for keeping my home audio setup running smoothly.

If you’ve tried this method or have any other tips for maintaining reliable connections with Chromecast Audio devices, please share your experiences! Let’s keep the discussion going and help each other troubleshoot these kinds of issues. Happy home automation everyone! :headphones::sparkles:
