Works with Google Wifi light automation with Aqara P1 motion sensor

Hi,

I’m new. I’ve got the following devices: Aqara E1 Hub, Aqara P1 (ZigBee) motion sensor and also generic Works With Google Wifi lights.

I’ve tried to setup an automation, so when there’s movement detected from the Aqara P1 motion sensor from 11pm - 7am, then the Works With Google lights turn on. When there’s no movement after 60 seconds, the lights turn off.

I can do this with other Works With Google motion sensors, but can’t do so with Aqara.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thank you!!!

Hi, are you trying to set up the automation in Google Home, and the problem is that other motion sensors have more automation conditions than ours?

I suppose, you’re using a cloud integration, which is the legacy method (now we are switching to Matter, which is local and more robust). Can you try connecting the Hub E1 to Google Home via Matter? In this case, the problem should be resolved.

Hi,

Yes I’m using Google Home instead of the Aqara App. How do I enable matter on the P1 sensor?

Even when I’m in the Aqara App, the P1 motion sensor are not matter compatible (as I understand only P2 Aqara sensors are matter compatible).

I was hoping to have the P1 sensor detect movement (no adjustable parameters in Google Home) and then also detect movement (with adjustable parameters, so 60 seconds of no movement, 300 seconds of no movement etc).

I’m very new to the Aqara ecosystem, so I’m not sure what I need to do. I have just bought the E1 Hub because I thought I need it for the Aqara ZigBee devices (P1 motion sensor and door/window sensor), as I read the the devices won’t work with a non Aqara ZigBee hub?

I hope that helps provide further insight. Any advice is greatly appreciated!!
