Worth upgrading from U100 to U400?

I have a U100 and it works perfectly - especially the fingerprint sensor. Is it actually worth upgrading to the U400? I know about the UWB feature but I’m not sold. Would love to hear your thoughts.

The U400 works magnificently. I use the UWB exclusively with Apple Home Key. I’ve used many “smart” locks and the U400 out performs them all!

I have a U100, but the U400 is tempting for that no action required experience.
I think it comes down to how much you want a touch free experience. Personally, I am going to keep using my fingerprint at the current price differential.

My first smart lock was the U50 and frankly we love it. But the U400 is such an upgrade that I’ll be buying one after the tax refund comes and putting the U50 on the back door. Just gotta figure out the rekeying aspect so they are all one key!

I just installed 3 U100s at a family members house. They aren’t very tech savvy, but they try REALLY hard to learn and they absolutely LOVE them. I’m as tech forward as it comes, but the idea of not having to do anything to get into my house, especially when it’s dark makes me a little hesitant for safety reasons, though I completely understand it potentially being a positive for those same reasons.

It’s a fair point. I’m curious if anyone has written a shortcut or process that “if the phone is in this mode, don’t unlock”? Anyone know if that’s possible?

I would love for the Matter based locks to support natively custom codes without requiring the Aqara app or HomeKit.

Coming from a u100 the U400 is a welcome upgrade. The U100 is a solid lock but nothing beats walking up to your door with your hands full and not needing to strain to bring your finger to the reader or your watch or holding your phone in hand with bags in each.

Now I just walk up and it’s much easier to get in the house. U100 batteries last long but now I don’t need batteries on hand or run and buy I can just hang a battery bank off the handle when I need to charge.

The lock is a bit bigger than the u100 so that would be the biggest thing to get used to.

I’m sure that there is some sort of automation that can be written to do so. Shortcuts is astoundingly capable even for WYSIWYG users. I think the intent and the use cases are slightly askew from one another. Sure, it’s a great idea to be able to do absolutely nothing and be able to get into your house just by walking up. Especially with your hands full or a kid on your arm, Whatever. In a bad/scary situation it could literally save someone’s life, not having to fumble with their keys or phone or fingerprint, what have you, while they are already in panic mode and that is genuinely great. Unfortunately a lot of people live in areas where something like this could lead to more danger if you don’t realize someone is behind you looking for trouble. Maybe it’s just the pessimist in me. Just my ramblings on it, I still think it’s great tech and there absolutely reasons to have it and love it.

If what I read is true - if you set airplane mode then UWB is disabled. I’d be curious if anyone with a U400 could test this. So if you do feel unsafe approaching your door, you could potentially toggle airplane mode on to disable that feature. Not an ideal solution though.

This is what I was hoping U100 was supposed to be. I definitely want to upgrade to the U400

I have the U400 on my desk, I’m about to replace my U100 with it (The U100 will go in the back door) I read through a lot of the comments here nodding… Lots of similar experiences to be had / or have had.
