I would like to be able to update my U200 lock directly from the Apple Home app, without the need to keep my phone with the Aqara app open to perform the update.

For the Aqara U200 lock, you can indeed perform OTA updates via the Apple Home app, but there are a few nuances to keep in mind. Aqara Home tends to roll out updates more frequently and earlier compared to Matter and other ecosystems, which is why updates through the Aqara app might sometimes be necessary to get the latest features and fixes sooner.
So while you can update through Apple Home, keeping an eye on the Aqara app for those cutting-edge updates is a smart move. Hopefully, future updates will streamline the process even more, making it as seamless as those Eve smart plugs you mentioned. Thanks for your message. Our team is still working with the chip company to resolve this issue. Since door lock upgrade packages are usually larger than those for sensors or other IOT devices, Thread - protocol updates take longer and are prone to interruption and failure. Once we’ve resolved this, we’ll release a new package on the Matter server.
