Wyze Cam Outdoor: Ethernet vs. Wi-Fi Battery Life Insights

Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with the Wyze Cam Outdoor cameras and how switching from Wi-Fi to Ethernet made a huge difference in battery life. I recently upgraded my setup, and I thought it might be helpful for others who are considering similar changes.

Initially, I had both cameras connected via Wi-Fi, and I noticed that the battery life was dropping significantly—only lasting about 2-3 days. It was frustrating because the cameras were supposed to last much longer. I reached out to customer support, but the help desk suggested it might be my router’s firewall causing issues. That didn’t sit well with me, so I decided to try something else.

I switched one camera back to Ethernet, and within a week, the battery life improved dramatically—now lasting 2-3 months! The difference was night and day. I’m not entirely sure why the Wi-Fi connection drains the battery so quickly, but I’m glad I found a solution.

If anyone else is experiencing similar issues, I’d highly recommend trying an Ethernet connection. It’s a simple fix that makes a world of difference. I’d love to hear if others have had similar experiences or if there are other solutions out there!

Happy holidays and happy tinkering! :gift::sparkles:
