Wyze Cam v2 Christmas Light Motion Alerts

Hey everyone, I wanted to share a bit of my experience with the Wyze Cam v2, especially during the holiday season. I’ve been using the Wyze Cam v2 for a while now, and overall, it’s been a great addition to my home security setup. The motion capture feature has been particularly useful for keeping an eye on things when I’m away. However, there’s been one minor issue that’s been bugging me lately, and I thought I’d reach out to see if anyone else is experiencing the same thing or has any tips to resolve it.

So, here’s the deal: I recently put up my Christmas lights, and I noticed that the Wyze Cam v2 is sending motion alerts every time the lights change color from white to another color mode. It’s sending 2-3 alerts per minute, which is a bit overwhelming. I mean, I love my Christmas lights, but I don’t want to be constantly getting alerts just because the lights are changing colors. It’s definitely a fun and festive touch, but it’s also a bit of a nuisance when it comes to monitoring my home.

I’ve tried a few things to see if I can resolve this issue. First, I checked the camera settings to see if there’s a way to adjust the motion detection sensitivity. I found that the sensitivity settings are a bit limited, and even after tweaking them, the alerts are still coming through. I also considered whether the camera’s firmware might be outdated, so I went ahead and updated it to the latest version. Unfortunately, that didn’t seem to make a difference either.

I’ve also looked into whether there’s a way to filter out the motion alerts caused by the lights changing colors. I know that some cameras allow you to set up custom rules or filters for motion detection, but I haven’t found anything like that in the Wyze Cam v2 settings. It’s a bit frustrating because I really like the camera’s performance otherwise, and I’d hate to have to take it down just because of this issue.

I’ve reached out to Wyze support to see if they have any suggestions, but I haven’t heard back yet. In the meantime, I’m curious to know if anyone else out there is dealing with a similar problem. Maybe there’s a workaround or a setting I’m missing that could help reduce the number of false alerts. I’d love to hear any tips or tricks you might have for dealing with this kind of situation.

On a more positive note, I’ve been really impressed with the Wyze Cam v2’s overall performance. The video quality is excellent, and the motion detection is generally reliable. It’s just this one little issue with the Christmas lights that’s been a bit of a pain point. I’m hopeful that there’s a solution out there, and I’m looking forward to hearing from the community.

In the meantime, I’ve been trying to make the best of the situation. I’ve set up a separate monitoring system for the Christmas lights, just to keep an eye on things without relying solely on the Wyze Cam v2. It’s not the most elegant solution, but it’s working for now. I’m definitely keeping my fingers crossed for a fix from Wyze, though. I’d love to be able to enjoy my Christmas lights without the constant alerts.

Overall, I’m really grateful for the Wyze Cam v2’s contribution to my home security. It’s a fantastic product, and I’m hopeful that this little hiccup can be resolved soon. Thanks to everyone for their insights and suggestions. I can’t wait to hear from you all!
