Wyze Cam V2 Firmware Update Issues and Solutions

Hey everyone, I’ve been having some trouble with my Wyze Cam V2 cameras after a recent firmware update. It’s been a bit frustrating, but I wanted to share my experience and see if anyone else has encountered similar issues or has some solutions to offer.

So, the problem started a few weeks ago when I noticed that one of my Wyze Cam V2s stopped working. I checked the app, and it showed an error code 90. The camera light was solid yellow, and it wouldn’t connect to the network. I tried the usual troubleshooting steps—resetting the camera, checking the Wi-Fi connection, updating the app—but nothing worked. I thought maybe it was just a fluke, so I decided to test another camera I had in storage.

I set up the new camera, and it worked perfectly at first. But when I tried to update its firmware through the app, it immediately started showing the same error code 90 and a solid yellow light. This was concerning because it seemed like the firmware update was causing the issue. I’ve heard from others that some Wyze cameras have had problems with firmware updates, so I’m not alone in this.

I’ve tried a few different approaches to fix the problem. First, I attempted a factory reset by holding down the reset button for 10 seconds. Unfortunately, the camera didn’t respond, and the light remained yellow. Next, I tried updating the firmware manually using an SD card. I followed the instructions, but after inserting the card and holding the setup button, the camera’s light turned bright blue for about 30 seconds and then went back to solid yellow. It still didn’t connect or reset when I held the setup button again.

At this point, I’m hesitant to update any more cameras for fear of bricking them. I’ve been using the older firmware version, which is quite outdated, but it’s the only way to keep my cameras functional. However, I know that older firmware can pose security risks and might not support new features or integrations, like Wyze Cam Plus.

I’ve reached out to Wyze support, but I haven’t heard back yet. In the meantime, I’m wondering if anyone else has had success recovering a camera after a bad firmware update. Maybe there’s a specific method or workaround that I haven’t tried yet. I’d also love to hear if others have found a way to prevent their cameras from experiencing this issue in the future.

If anyone has any tips or advice, I’d really appreciate it. Let’s hope we can figure this out before more cameras are affected. Thanks in advance for your help!
