Wyze Cam v3 Auto-Unlock Experience & Tips

I’ve been using the Wyze Cam v3 for several months now, and overall, it’s been a fantastic addition to my smart home setup. The video quality is excellent, and the motion detection is reliable. However, there’s one feature that’s been a bit of a thorn in my side—the auto-unlock functionality. I thought I’d share my experience and some tips in case others are facing similar issues.

Initially, the auto-unlock worked sporadically. Sometimes it would unlock my Wyze lock as expected, and other times, it felt like I was waiting for a miracle. Recently, it stopped working altogether. The frustration was real, especially after I invested time in setting it up. I tried everything from rebooting my phone to changing the batteries in the lock, but nothing seemed to fix the issue. Even the gateway reset didn’t help.

What’s interesting is that sometimes the app would notify me that an auto-unlock was in progress, but it never actually happened. It was like the system was playing a cruel joke. I’d have to manually unlock the door, which defeated the purpose of having a smart lock in the first place. After a lot of trial and error, I found that force-closing the Wyze app and reopening it would temporarily fix the issue, but it was far from a permanent solution.

I’m using a Samsung Galaxy Ultra 5G with Android 10 and the latest security patches. The Wyze app is up to date, and so are the lock and gateway firmware. I’m hoping that with future updates, this issue will be resolved. In the meantime, I’ve resorted to using manual overrides and additional security measures to ensure my home stays safe.

If anyone has encountered similar problems or has tips on how to troubleshoot this, I’d love to hear from you! It’s always reassuring to know that others are going through the same thing and that there might be a solution out there.
