Hey everyone, I just wanted to share my experience with the Wyze Cam V3. I’ve been using it for a couple of weeks now, and it’s been a great addition to my home security setup. I placed mine at the front door window, where it gets some street light at night, and it’s been working flawlessly so far. I also upgraded my older Wyze Cam V2 to my parents’ house, which is now sitting in the front porch window with a porch light—working perfectly there too!
Both cameras are using Samsung MicroSD cards for recording. I initially set them up for continuous recording, but now I’m considering switching to event-only recording. I’m curious to hear how others have configured their microSD settings. Is event-only recording sufficient without the Cam Plus subscription? I’d love to avoid the five-minute cooldown period, but I’m also trying to save on costs. Any advice would be appreciated!
One thing I’ve noticed is the importance of proper placement. The V3 really benefits from some ambient light at night, and the motion detection zone feature has been a lifesaver. It’s reduced unnecessary alerts by over 99% compared to before. I’d also love to hear if anyone has tips on optimizing motion detection settings further.
Overall, I’m really happy with my Wyze Cam experience. They’re affordable, easy to set up, and reliable. If you’re looking for a budget-friendly security camera, I’d definitely recommend giving Wyze a try!
