Wyze Camera Event Clips Issue Solved: A User's Journey

I’ve been using Wyze cameras for a while now, and they’ve been a great addition to my smart home setup. However, recently I encountered an issue with one of my Wyze cameras where it stopped recording event clips. At first, I was a bit worried, thinking it might be another tech nightmare, but I decided to tackle it head-on.

The Problem:
One of my Wyze cameras stopped recording 12-second event clips, even though it was still providing a live feed. I noticed this after a day or so, which made it a bit concerning. I restarted the device, and it started working again, but the issue resurfaced a few days later. This was frustrating, especially since all my other cameras (including 2 Nest, 1 Ring, and 2 other Wyze cameras) were working fine.

The Solution:
After some research and troubleshooting, I realized that the issue might be related to the camera’s firmware or a temporary glitch. I decided to perform a factory reset on the problematic camera. This involved holding down the power button for about 10 seconds until the LED light started blinking. After resetting, I reconnected the camera to my network and set it up again. Surprisingly, this solved the problem! The camera is now recording event clips consistently.

Lessons Learned:
This experience taught me the importance of regularly checking and updating firmware on smart devices. It also highlighted the value of patience and persistence when troubleshooting tech issues. If you’re facing similar problems with your Wyze cameras, a factory reset might be worth a try before considering more drastic measures.

I’m relieved to have this issue resolved and am happy to share my experience in case it helps someone else facing the same problem. Happy smart home tinkering! :rocket:
