Hey everyone, I wanted to share a bit of my experience with the Wyze cameras and a recent firmware update that caused some trouble. Hopefully, this can help others who might run into similar issues!
So, a few weeks ago, I noticed that my Wyze cameras started acting up after a firmware update. They would go offline, flash blue and red lights, and generally be a bit finicky. At first, I thought it might be a temporary glitch, but the problem persisted for hours. I had to troubleshoot everything from the router settings to the camera connections, which was pretty frustrating.
After some digging, I realized the issue was related to the DHCP settings on my new CenturyLink C3000 router. It turns out the updated firmware on the Wyze cameras was having trouble handling the DHCP lease names, especially when special characters were involved. I ended up disabling the special characters in the lease names on my router, and voilà! The cameras started working again without any further issues.
This experience taught me a few things: first, always keep an eye on router settings when updating smart devices, and second, the Wyze community is really helpful. I found a lot of support and solutions by reading through forums and posts from others who had similar problems.
If anyone else is dealing with connectivity issues after a firmware update, I’d recommend checking your router settings and seeing if tweaking the DHCP options helps. It’s a bit of a hassle, but it can save you a lot of time and frustration in the long run.
Thanks for reading, and happy smart home tinkering!
