Hey everyone! I’ve been struggling with my Wyze cameras going offline after a router reboot. It’s been a frustrating issue, but I finally found a workaround. Here’s how I resolved it and set up an automation to handle it in the future.
Problem Description:
After a router reboot, my Wyze cameras would go offline. I tried resetting them manually, but it was time-consuming and not reliable, especially when I’m away for an extended period.
Solution:
I discovered that unplugging the camera’s power source for about 30 seconds and then plugging it back in usually brings it back online. To automate this process, I created a simple rule using the Wyze app and IFTTT.
Automation Setup:
- IFTTT Trigger: Set up a trigger that detects when the camera goes offline.
- Wyze App Integration: Use the Wyze app to send a reset command to the camera.
- Power Cycle: If the reset doesn’t work, the automation sends a command to an smart plug connected to the camera, cycling the power.
Tips for Others:
- Ensure your router has a stable connection.
- Regularly check the camera’s firmware for updates.
- Consider using a UPS for your router and cameras to prevent unexpected reboots.
This setup has been working perfectly for me, and I hope it helps someone else facing the same issue. Happy automating! ![]()
