Hey everyone, I wanted to share my recent experience with the Wyze contact sensors. I’ve been using them since the early access phase back in May, and overall, I’m really impressed with their reliability and performance. However, I did run into a small issue with one of my garage door sensors that I thought might be worth discussing here.
Over the last week, my garage door sensor started going offline repeatedly. Restarting the camera and bridge didn’t seem to help, and even though the sensor reported normal battery levels, it kept disconnecting. After some troubleshooting, I decided to replace the battery, and everything seems to be working smoothly now. I was able to get about 7 months of use out of the previous battery, which is pretty impressive considering the door is opened and closed around 5 times a day. The sensor was about 20ft away from the bridge with a clear line of sight, and it handled temperatures ranging from -4°C to 23°C without any issues.
I also have a second contact sensor on my front door, which doesn’t get as much use, and it’s been working perfectly without any hiccups. This just goes to show how consistent these sensors can be when properly set up!
Now, moving on to something I’ve been curious about—has anyone successfully integrated the MOES underfloor heating thermostats into their smart home setup? I came across their ZigBee Star Ring Smart Thermostat and it seems like a great option for controlling water boilers and electric heating systems. The app compatibility and voice control features are a big plus, but I’d love to hear from anyone who’s already implemented this in their home. Any tips or challenges you’ve encountered would be really helpful!
Another thing I’ve been thinking about is the best way to handle multiple smart apps on a single device. For example, I’d love to have my lights adjust based on motion during the day but switch to a lower brightness setting in the evening. However, I’ve hit a wall where the system tells me the light is already configured for this. I’m sure there must be a way to achieve this without having to reset everything each time. If anyone has figured out a workaround or a smart way to manage multiple configurations, I’d be grateful for the insight!
Lastly, I wanted to touch on the importance of proper network management, especially after making changes like reflashing a Zigbee radio. I recently reflashed my Electro Lama ZHA radio to address some reliability issues, but I accidentally wiped out the network state in the process. This was a bit of a setback, but I managed to recover by restoring from a backup. It’s a good reminder to always back up your network settings before making any major changes!
Overall, I’m really enjoying the journey of integrating these smart devices into my home. Each challenge I face is an opportunity to learn something new and refine my setup. I’d love to hear your thoughts, experiences, and tips on these topics!
Cheers,
