Hi everyone, I recently purchased the Wyze Doorbell and installed it in my home. I was really excited to set it up, but I quickly ran into some issues. The doorbell connects to my Wi-Fi, but I noticed a lot of lag and the video kept freezing up. I was really worried because this doorbell is supposed to be a reliable security device, not something that freezes every few minutes.
I did some research and found out that the Wyze Doorbell doesn’t support 5G Wi-Fi, which is what I usually use. My router is only about 10-12 feet away, so I thought it should work fine. But clearly, it wasn’t. I tried switching to 2.4G Wi-Fi, but the problem persisted. I was really frustrated because I wanted this doorbell to work seamlessly.
After some more research, I found a few tips that might help. One suggestion was to reset the doorbell and reconfigure it from scratch. I tried that, and it seemed to help a bit, but the freezing issue still happened occasionally. Another idea was to check the router settings and make sure that the doorbell was on a separate band or channel. I adjusted the router settings, and that made a noticeable difference. The video quality improved, and the freezing happened less frequently.
I also came across a suggestion about firmware updates. I checked the Wyze app and found that there was an update available for the doorbell. After updating, the performance improved significantly! The video is much smoother, and the freezing issue is almost gone. I was really happy to see that the update made such a big difference.
I want to thank everyone in the community for their tips and suggestions. It’s really helpful to have such a supportive group when dealing with smart home devices. If anyone else is having issues with their Wyze Doorbell, I hope this helps! Keep experimenting and tweaking settings—it can make a world of difference.
Cheers, and happy smart home tinkering! ![]()
