Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with the WyzeCam V2 and how it interacts with my Alexa routines. I’ve been using WyzeCam for a while now, and it’s been a great addition to my smart home setup. However, I’ve noticed an interesting behavior that I wanted to bring to the community’s attention.
So, here’s the deal: I have three Alexa routines set up using WyzeSense contact sensors. The first one plays a doorbell sound when my front door opens, the second adjusts the volume when the door closes, and the third triggers an alarm if my car’s console is opened. These routines have been working perfectly for the most part.
But here’s the catch: my WyzeCam V2 seems to restart automatically once a day. I can hear it clicking, almost like when I manually restart it. Now, here’s where it gets a bit quirky. Every time the cam restarts, all my Alexa routines tied to WyzeSense sensors get triggered simultaneously. I hear the Echo Dot adjusting the volume and playing both the doorbell and alarm sounds in quick succession. It’s a bit jarring, especially in the middle of the night!
I tested this theory by manually restarting the cam, and sure enough, the routines fired off as expected. This daily restart is making me wonder if there’s some unauthorized activity, like someone opening my front door or car, but I know it’s just the cam acting up. It’s a bit unsettling, to say the least.
I’ve been using the iOS Wyze beta app, version V2.6.62, and the cam firmware is 4.9.5.36. The bridge is on 0.0.0.33, and my Alexa app is up to date at version 2.2.307017. The Echo Dot’s software is also current, at 2919948420. I’m curious if others are experiencing similar issues or if there’s a known fix for this.
On a positive note, I’ve found that manually restarting the cam temporarily resolves the issue, but it’s not a long-term solution. I’m hoping the Wyze team addresses this in a future update. In the meantime, I’m keeping a close eye on my routines and hoping for a seamless experience.
If anyone has encountered this or has any insights, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Let’s keep the conversation going and help each other troubleshoot these smart home quirks.
Cheers,
