Hey everyone, I wanted to share my experience with the Xiaomi gateway binding issue I encountered recently. After successfully setting up my openHAB instance on my Synology NAS, I faced a peculiar problem when reinstalling the Xiaomi binding. While I could read values from my gateway, I couldn’t control any devices through openHAB. This was quite puzzling, especially since everything worked perfectly the first time around.
I started by revisiting the official documentation and troubleshooting guides. The most common issues revolved around network configurations, such as multicast blocking or incorrect subnet settings. I meticulously checked my router settings to ensure multicast was enabled and confirmed that both the gateway and my NAS were on the same subnet. I even tried switching from Wi-Fi to Ethernet, as suggested, but the problem persisted.
After several frustrating attempts, I decided to dig deeper into the logs. I discovered that the gateway port 9898 was indeed open, but there might be an issue with how the binding was reinitialized after the reinstall. I reached out to the community forums and found that others had similar experiences, often resolved by clearing the gateway’s cache or performing a factory reset.
Following these suggestions, I reset my Xiaomi gateway and reconfigured everything from scratch. To my relief, the binding worked seamlessly this time! It turned out that the gateway’s previous configuration was causing conflicts during the reinstallation process.
This experience taught me the importance of thorough troubleshooting and the value of community support. If anyone else is facing similar issues, I’d recommend checking network settings, reviewing logs, and considering a gateway reset. Happy automating! ![]()
