Z-Wave Network Configuration and Battery-Powered Sensors

I’ve been diving into the world of Z-Wave and it’s been quite an adventure! I’ve got a setup with 28 Z-Wave switches, a mix of GE Enbrighten dimmers and some non-dimmable ones for landscape lights. Originally, I was using a C7 hub, but upgraded to a C8 to improve range. Things have been working smoothly overall, but I’ve noticed some changes in how my devices connect. Using the Hubitat Z-Wave Mesh Details app, I saw that about half of my switches were meshed initially, but now only about 6 are meshed, with the rest showing as direct connections. I think this shift happened after Hubitat added Long Range (LR) support in a recent update.

Now, I’m planning to add a few Z-Wave battery-powered temperature sensors that support LR. The instructions say I can add them as normal/meshed or LR devices. My sensors will be placed far from the hub but close to some existing plus switches. I’m wondering if there’s a best practice for adding these new devices. Should I try them as LR devices first, or stick with normal/meshed? I’d love to hear any tips or experiences others have had with LR devices and meshing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! :rocket:
